DILIKKAUS86.COM — WEST JAKARTA — An alleged illicit drug trafficking operation has been uncovered in West Jakarta. The West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Investigation Unit arrested a man identified by the initials TE at Green Royal Condo House, Jalan H. Aseni Raya, Semanan Subdistrict, Kalideres District, West Jakarta, on Tuesday (August 4, 2026), at around 5:00 p.m.
During the arrest and subsequent search, officers seized approximately 1,193 grams gross of methamphetamine, 4,137 ecstasy tablets, approximately 228 grams of broken ecstasy tablets, and 227 grams of cannabis.
Police also seized three electronic scales, Chinese tea packaging allegedly previously used to store methamphetamine, sales records, four mobile phones, a black bag, and 831 Malaysian Ringgit in cash. The quantity and variety of the alleged narcotics have prompted investigators to expand the case and trace the source and distribution network.
The investigation began with information from members of the public concerning suspected illicit drug trafficking activities in Kalideres. Police followed up on the information through surveillance and investigation before receiving information that the suspect was at Green Royal Condo House. Officers then went to the location, identified a person matching the description and carried out the arrest and search.
West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Nasriadi confirmed the operation.
“After conducting checks and investigation, the team received information that the target was at the location. Upon arrival, officers saw a person matching the description and proceeded with the arrest and search,” Nasriadi said when contacted on Friday (September 4, 2026).
The search uncovered more than one kilogram of methamphetamine, thousands of ecstasy tablets, broken ecstasy tablets and cannabis. Police also found electronic scales and sales records, which have been secured as evidence. The four mobile phones are also being examined by investigators, in accordance with legal procedures, to trace communications and transactions potentially connected to the case.
During preliminary questioning, TE allegedly told investigators that he obtained the methamphetamine and ecstasy from a man identified by the initial A. Police said A has been placed on the wanted list (DPO) and remains at large.
West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Investigation Unit Chief AKBP Vernal A. Sambo said, “The suspect admitted that he obtained the narcotics from A, who is currently being pursued. The transactions were conducted through face-to-face meetings, with payment made by bank transfer.”
That information has become a key focus of the ongoing investigation. Police are continuing to trace the source of the narcotics, distribution routes, transaction patterns and any other individuals who may have been involved.
Given the substantial quantity of narcotics seized, investigators face a critical task: determining whether TE was merely a recipient or part of a wider distribution chain. Police are expected to pursue the wanted suspect, identify the supplier and dismantle the network based on legally obtained evidence.
TE and all seized evidence have been taken to the West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Investigation Unit for further investigation. TE has been charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) of Indonesia’s Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, which carries a minimum sentence of six years and a maximum of 20 years in prison.
The case serves as another warning about the continuing threat posed by illicit narcotics distribution. Public attention now turns to the next stage of the investigation: whether police can move beyond the arrest of one suspect and uncover the wider network behind the alleged operation, including suppliers and other parties proven to be involved.
The arrest of one suspect is only the first step. The real test is whether investigators can trace the supply chain back to its source.
The case remains under investigation. Any allegations against other individuals must be established through lawful evidence and due process, while TE remains entitled to the presumption of innocence until a final and binding court decision is issued.
