Dilikkasus86.com – Jakarta 4 Maret 2026 – Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), and 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), conveyed messages for Indonesia in facing the Iran–United States war.
The message was delivered when Jokowi and SBY attended an invitation from President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (March 3, 2026) evening.
Jokowi and SBY had dinner and held discussions with Prabowo Subianto regarding the increasingly heated global situation.
On his X account, Jokowi shared the outcome of the meeting on Wednesday (March 4, 2026).
Jokowi emphasized that togetherness and solidarity are the foundation for facing the evolving global dynamics.
“In a dialogue with President @prabowo and national figures at the Palace, we exchanged views to ensure that Indonesia’s strategic direction remains solid, with national interests as the top priority,” Jokowi wrote.
He also reminded all Indonesians that unity is the real strength that maintains stability, strengthens resilience, and ensures the sustainability of Indonesia’s future progress.
Meanwhile, SBY also gave his response regarding the Iran–U.S. war.
SBY stated that a war involving the United States and Israel against Iran has the potential to trigger a humanitarian tragedy similar to what occurred in Gaza, Palestine, if not properly controlled.
SBY observed that the current world order is undergoing fundamental changes.
He noted that many countries are prioritizing their own national interests and moving away from the spirit of multilateralism.
“I think it is no longer a secret that countries are prioritizing their own interests—country first. They are becoming more nationalistic, even ultra-nationalistic, no longer willing to work together in a multilateral order. They prefer to act unilaterally, and in the end, powerful countries—sorry to say—seem able to determine whatever they want, regardless of whether the impact is good or bad,” he said.
According to SBY, this shift has caused the global order that prevailed for decades to be abandoned without a clear replacement.
He also highlighted the weakening role of the United Nations (UN) and the disregard for international law by major powers.
“We have to understand that the order that prevailed for decades is being abandoned, and there is no clear replacement yet. The UN is weak at the moment, and international law is often ignored, so it seems as if anything is permissible—especially if it is done by a powerful country, a great power, for example, a country with veto rights,” he said.
SBY warned that if world leaders remain silent and allow the conflicting parties to act without limits, humanitarian tragedies like those in Gaza could be repeated.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad revealed that the invitation served as a forum for President Prabowo to hear the views of former presidents and vice presidents, including seeking input on mitigating the impact of current global geopolitical conditions.
“Mr. Prabowo also wants to hear suggestions and advice from former presidents to be used as considerations and in planning mitigation measures for the nation and state, given the impacts that we all know are currently unfolding and may also affect our country,” Dasco told reporters at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (March 3, 2026).
Prabowo, Dasco added, also wished to provide updates on the latest global geopolitical developments to former presidents and vice presidents of Indonesia.
“Mr. President wants to give updates to former presidents regarding the latest geopolitical situation after returning from his overseas visit,” said the Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party.
It is known that tensions in the Middle East escalated following U.S.–Israel attacks on Iran on Saturday (March 27, 2026).
This prompted Iran to launch retaliatory strikes against several U.S. military bases in the
